This is a slice of my other world. During the winter months I teach snowboarding and skiing, but last year I became a member of Ski Patrol as well. In addition to teaching the guests, I also help them if they are injured, but perhaps one of the best aspects of being in patrol is being the first on the hill. The solitiude and feelings of tranquility I recieve are incredible. Join me on one of my early morning journeys, and while the video is not the same as being there, it gives you an idea of a very special part of my world.

- My American Indian name given to me by a friend is "Gray Wolf." My friend has since left this earth, but his memory lives in my heart, and I celebrate his life mentoring his son. The first world gives me sustenance, the second world provides me pleasure through giving to others through teaching, and the last part of my world challenges me with learning in order to be a better teacher and mentor.

ReplyDeleteI patrol at Mt. High Ski Resort located in Wrightwood, CA. I also work there as a Ski/Snowboard instructor. We are nearing the end of our season, but that day was epic.
